The heat is on here in sunny St. George! That means everyone is wanting to cool off with some yummy sweet treats! Considering the fact that temperatures can reach 110+ degrees here in the summertime, cool treats are a must! So to kick off the summer and help all my fellow foodies beat the heat, I have compiled a list of my top five favorite cool treats here in St. George!

  1. Dixie Nutrition Yogurt – 406 W St George Blvd, St George, UT 84790
For a healthy frozen treat, all the locals know that Dixie Nutrition is where it’s at! They have some of the best flavors and keep it nice and healthy(as possible)! This has been a favorite for me especially lately as I am trying to lean out, and to beat my craving for a snickers I’ll just get me a fat free/sugar free frozen yogurt and BAM! Cravings gone, and guilt free(ish)!

  1. Hokulia Shave Ice – 20 N Bluff St, St George, UT 84770
This is bar none my most favorite shave ice shack in St. George. They have huge portions and the flavors are out of this world! My fave is drizzle of sweet condensed milk on top of cherry cola! Sounds weird, but you’d be surprised how tasty it is! To get a real feel for Hawaii, try their Li Hing Mui powder topping, a mix of sweet, salty and sour!

  1. Yogurtland – 15 S River Rd, St George, UT 84790
Of course Yogurtland! Who doesn’t LOVE this place? So many flavors to choose from and SO MANY TOPPINGS. This place overloads my brain with all the mixture ideas and tasty combos every time I go! Give me all the fire roasted coconut and pistachio and all the chocolate on top! (mouth currently watering!)

  1. Kilo’s – 511 E St George Blvd, St George, UT 84770
Who doesn’t love Italian Ice? Kilo’s offers an array of different flavors that are seriously the most mouthwatering tastiest flavors. The atmosphere here is quaint, slightly retro and just simply a fun environment to go and enjoy their sweet frozen treats.

  1. Zeppe’s – 1812 W Sunset Blvd #2, St George, UT 84770
Let me tell you about Zeppe’s. Oh my goodness. The excitement I felt when I found out they were coming to St. George was UNREAL. I used to live in Logan, UT and I would make a Zeppe’s trip at least once a week (even in the dead of winter) simply because their custard and italian ice is absolutely amazing. Bar none my favorite frozen snack place. The flavors are spectacular, and with the right amount of custard its just heaven. (mouth watering once again).

So if you’re struggling with the heat today, make a trip to one of these five places to enjoy a flavorful, yummy and COLD treat.

I am probably one of the biggest pasta fans around. I love all of it, fettuccine alfredo, pesto penne, shrimp scampi on angel hair, my mouth is watering right now as I write this! This is hard for me, because being pasta advocate isn’t exactly good considering the fact that I am also a fairly big fitness advocate. I hate the fact that I have to limit the amount of pasta I can shovel into my face per week. I mean if I could I would literally eat this stuff everyday, several times a day. Unfortunately I also really want a summer bod. Pasta and fitness do not coincide on many levels, especially if you are trying to get lean! The struggle is real here people. With all of that in mind, I make sure that I choose wisely where I am going to indulge for a cheat pasta meal.

For those of you who are on my level with a passion for pasta and fitness, I have a just the restaurant for you! Twisted Noodle is this super rad cafe located on Main Street next to the parking garage. I love this place so much for several reasons. The restaurant menu was created to please anyone with any diet! It is a healthy alternative for dining out and indulging in “the good stuff”. When I first heard of this place my heart skipped a beat and when I took my first lunch trip there, my mind was blown. If you are like me, you know the struggle of finding healthy food that tastes better than cardboard.

Now back to pasta, Twisted noodle offers pasta… Wait for it… Ba dum pst! That is healthy! And I am not saying healthy as in just wheat noodles. I mean healthy like they have pasta that fits into a paleo diet! I can’t even begin to explain the amount of joy this brings pasta loving fitness fans. I nearly cried when I realized I can eat there more than once a week and not gain all the weight back that I work so hard to keep off!

Not only is this place healthy and delicious, but they are affordable as well! Which is awesome because we all know how expensive being healthy can be!

Places like Twisted Noodle are what dreams are made of. With meal plan offers, vegan dishes, paleo diet friendly and being able to make healthy pasta lovers happy, I definitely rate this place a 10. Now go get yourself over there and get some good healthy wholesome eats!

I don’t know about you guys, but I have become quite the fan of tacos recently. Honestly, I am a fan of all things taco these days. From taco salad to fish tacos, hard tacos, soft tacos, street tacos and my ABSOLUTE personal Fav these days, SUSHI TACOS! I’ll get into more detail about these little secret treasures further along in this post. So, I have compiled a list of my 3 favorite local places to get a variety of these delicious little meals.

This is my top pick for authentic Street Tacos in Saint George. Coming from Southern California, It seems as though nothing really quite hit the spot when it came to these until I landed here. Famous for their Taco Wednesday where pork tacos just so happen to be half off. It’s your traditional plate, wrapped in tin foil, corn tortilla topped with your choice of meat, cilantro and onions. Afterwards you make your way over to the salsa bar where you’ll find a variety of degrees of temperature, including the delicious guacamole salsa, onions, more cilantro, limes, spicy carrots and pinto beans, all which is for no extra cost.

  1. Oscar’s Cafe,  948 Zion – Mount Carmel Hwy, Springdale, UT 84767

Oscars has some of the most delicious food hands down in my book, and a pretty reasonably priced menu at that. This is the home of some extremely tasty and delectable Shrimp Tacos. 3 corn tortillas with melted mozzarella, guacamole, piled with grilled shrimp, salsa and a creamy lime sauce drizzled to top it off.  You can dine indoor or outdoor and catch some amazing views of the peaks of Zion National Park.

  1. Ninja Japanese Steakhouse and Sushi, 245 Red Cliffs Dr, St George, UT 84790

NINJA TACOS! They are a real thing and they are the best thing since sliced bread. Chopped tuna, salmon, yellowtail and red snapper, mixed together with avocado, lime, cilantro and sureno and showered in Hashi sauce. Pile that concoction on top of a little tortilla with sticky rice, toss your chopsticks to the side and you’ve got yourself 4 little gifts for your tastebuds. Sceptical? Believe me, these are an item you will go back for. They aren’t technically on the menu, but go ahead and ask and they’ll be glad to whip them up for you.

This family owned and operated spunky and chic little café, with a fabulous location in historic downtown St. George, is the perfect brunch or any other meal spot!

When it comes to supporting local artists, Twenty Five Main has it figured out. Almost every Friday they have live music for local musicians to come and perform for the restaurants guests. They also display artwork from local artists in the café!

They even have cupcakes of the day! That’s right… Cupcakes. Not only is Twenty Five Main loved for their excellent gourmet food, they have a cupcake parlor as well! With some of the BEST cupcakes in town. The flavors range from peanut butter chocolate, blackberry vanilla and raspberry vanilla (best cupcake in my opinion!).

Twenty Five Main is definitely a very popular cafe to go to for breakfast, lunch and dinner. They have some of the most delicious meals made from scratch like their mouthwatering fettuccine alfredo (my absolute favorite!) and their adored Paninis! They offer an array of tasty eats, ranging from pasta, to deli sandwiches and much more! Do not even get me started on their French toast! Their breakfast menu is by far my favorite in town. Weekends bring breakfast dates with my friends and more often than not we end up at Twenty Five Main. The café also offers an array of delicious coffee and espresso drinks as well as other tasty beverages like Italian sodas!

This is a fun and stylish restaurant for the entire family to enjoy.
